1. Please describe your
practice as a Massage Therapist.
My massage therapy practice is located within my home with a separate entrance. I also do corporate chair massage and home spa parties. I rent my treatment room to another Licensed Massage Therapist on occasion.
2. What is a typical week like
for you?
I work part-time (10-15 hrs/week) by appointment, usually Monday-Thursday and occasionally on weekends. I do not have set hours, but book appointments around my family's every-changing schedule, usually working a couple hours in the morning and a couple hours in the evening.
3. How has your career as a
Massage Therapist impacted your life?
I get fulfillment out of the job I am doing. I love being able to help my clients and have met so many wonderful people! It's also afforded me an excellent part-time job while being able to stay at home to raise my young children.
4. What job or career did you
have prior to becoming a Massage Therapist?
For twelve years I was an Administrative Assistant for a large nationwide company.
5. What inspired you to become
a Massage Therapist?
I 'felt' the benefits of massage and always wanted to own my own business, so I gave my intuition a listen. I took a one day introduction to massage class to learn more and from then I knew this was it for me!
6. What advice would you give
to someone thinking about a career in Massage Therapy?
Research and sole-search. Talk to Massage Therapists, ask questions, GET MASSAGED! Take a massage introduction class or sit in on a class at CNW - I did all of the above and found it very informative!
7. Estimated annual income as a Massage Therapist (not including any other sources.)
$10,001 - $25,000
